In glastonbury 2025 lineup, US pop star Olivia Rodrigo and British band The 1975 will headline the Glastonbury Festival this summer, organizers have announced. They will be joined by five-time Brit Award winner Charli XCX, who will top the bill on the festival’s second stage on Saturday, June 28.
There will also be (Glastonbury 2025 Lineup) debut Glastonbury performances by Alanis Morissette, Noah Kahan, Gracie Abrams, Lola Young, and US rapper Noname in Glastonbury 2025 Lineup, who will headline the West Holts stage. Returning favorites include Wolf Alice, Wet Leg, Fatboy Slim, Loyle Carner, and Scissor Sisters. Rock legend Neil Young has already been announced as the Saturday night headliner, with Rod Stewart playing the Sunday afternoon Legend slot.
The 1975 Reach Top of the Bill
The 1975 are festival (Glastonbury 2025 Lineup) veterans who have headlined the Reading and Leeds festivals three times since 2016, but this will be the first time they’ll be topping Glastonbury’s lineup. Balancing hooky dance rock with more experimental forays into electronica and ambient music, they incorporate references to online relationships, chemical dependency and sarcastic self-aware humour in their lyrics.
Matty Healy’s Controversial Stage Presence and Activism
Frontman Matty Healy is known for his provocative and often divisive actions. On their recent tour, he was spotted chewing raw steak, berating security guards via autotune, and passionately kissing fans in the front row. More seriously, the band is being sued by organizers of a Malaysian festival that was shut down after Healy kissed one of his bandmates on stage. The singer said he was protesting the country’s anti-LGBT laws, under which homosexual acts can be punished with up to 20 years in prison.
(Glastonbury 2025 Lineup) “I think they would make a fantastic headliner,” BBC 6 Music’s Nick Grimshaw said on the Sidetracked podcast. “They have great taste and attitude, and they’re a band you’d think about doing a special show with.”
Olivia Rodrigo’s Rapid Rise
Rodrigo is the first Glastonbury headliner (Glastonbury 2025 Lineup) to succeed in the 2020s and the second-youngest headliner ever after Billie Eilish, who was 20 when she topped the bill in 2022. Like Eilish, the 22-year-old will play the Pyramid Stage with just two albums to her name, but she has a solid arsenal of fist-pumping pop-punk singalongs, including hits like “Good 4 U”, “Brutal” and “Get Him Back!”, as well as lighter-hearted songs like “Drivers License” and “Vampires”.
An accomplished live performer, her 2024 Guts Tour earned $186 million (£104 million) in ticket sales. She will also headline the BST Festival in London’s Hyde Park two days before Glastonbury. Rodrigo last performed at the festival in 2022, drawing a large and noticeably younger crowd to the second stage. During that performance, she called on Lily Allen to perform the expletive-laden track “F*** You”, dedicating it to the US Supreme Court judges who struck down the constitutional right to abortion in the US the day before.
Charli XCX’s “Brat” Summer
Rumors that Rihanna would perform on the Pyramid Stage failed to live up to expectations for the second year in a row, but Charli XCX has cemented her status as the U.K.’s biggest pop star with her performance on the Second Stage. She is returning to the festival after winning five Brit Awards for her deliberately raunchy seventh album, Brat.
Performing on the Other Stage will give them the chance to fully embrace the frenetic, hedonistic club sounds that made them famous, without the constraints of a mainstream BBC One broadcast. “The Other Stage is traditionally the home of electronic music,” Annie Mac said on Sidetracked. “It means a lot to them to take on Neil Young’s set on Saturday night.”
Charli’s set is another step on her Glastonbury journey via the smaller stage. She made her debut at the Silver Hayes Dance Arena in 2014. “I was really sick and forgot to wear a bra on stage, which was nice,” she told the BBC afterwards. “Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens came on during the last song and told me I was singing live on the radio. My voice went and it was all a bit mad, but it was fun.”
More Acts Added (Glastonbury 2025 Lineup)
Other acts announced for Glastonbury 2025 include Ezra Collective, Jorja Smith, The Libertines, The Maccabees, Franz Ferdinand, K Tempest, Bakar and The Prodigy. Pop star Raye will also perform on Saturday night, just before Neil Young, following her stunning lunchtime performance on the Pyramid Stage two years ago.
